...2006... A record early season lake effect snow event dumped very heavy wet snow over the Buffalo, New York area. 22.6 inches was record at the Buffalo Airport with 24 inches at Depew. Tree damage was extensive since most where still in full leaf. Power outages were massive with nearly a million losing power, some up to a week. Total damages and the cost of the cleanup were $156 million.
